At TAVI, the studio is in our DNA. Initially created by instructors for instructors, it didn’t take long before TAVI products were seen on the feet of studio clients everywhere. Perhaps it was something to do with the high performance of our grip socks, the detailed craftsmanship that goes into every pair, or the way they elevated the very look and feel of the studio performance. Whatever the reason, it was clear that TAVI was here to stay.

Since that time, the boutique fitness world has evolved. The TAVI woman hits the barre and Pilates studio to tone, but has also embraced cycling studios, HIIT workouts, and so much more. So we created a premium sport sock to meet her on her workout journey and an apparel line that functions and flatters every body from the studio to the street.

And with everything we do, we create from our heart, in hopes of touching your soul (and your soles) and keeping you grounded as you grow.

They say the best products are born from a genuine need, and our feet needed protection during our yoga classes. From slipping out of asanas, to germ filled mats and cold toes, we knew we had to come up with a solution. So we turned our small LA garage into a testing ground and created the world’s first 5-toe grip sock designed with barefoot classes in mind.

That was back in 2004. Since then, our 5-toe socks have become a staple accessory for yoga, Pilates, barre, and dance classes everywhere. Why 5, you ask? Because by spreading your toes your feet stay anchored in place with no bunching and twisting, so you can stand strong and forget about slipping.

Today we might have grown beyond our garage roots, and our product line may have transcended the studio, but one thing will always remain true: we exist to create and innovate products that enhance and support natural movement so you can reach your full potential. 

Base 33 was born in 2018 to deliver on a need that many studios had inquired about: a men’s grip and sport product that provided the best in quality and performance.

We answered that need with the creation of Base 33, a sock created for men, by men. “33” derived from our home on the 33rd parallel (San Diego) and our desire to make the best performance product on the market for both indoor and outdoor activities…. whether it be hitting the mat, the trails, or the gym, our grip and sport socks were architected this purpose in mind.

This journey began with our love of fitness and fashion. We’ve always believed in the healing power of a good workout, especially among friends. It provides not only physical therapy, but also mental and social therapy. In fact, the best version of ourselves always seems to follow a good sweat, so we developed a brand that would give you the means to sweat wherever and whenever your day allows it... and look dang good doing it.

Eco-Friendly Apparel

Made using a CO2-neutral production process from low-water-use beech trees, our TaviLuxe modal (used in our tops) is planet-friendly and performance driven. At end of life cycle, fibers are biodegradable and can re-enter the ecosystem.

Organic Cotton

All of our socks are 100% organic cotton. For the production of our cotton socks, we source certified and ecologically produced organic cotton using specialty farmers to deliver highest quality cotton.

Ethical Sourcing

We manufacture at facilities that we focus on making safe for workers and source natural, recycled or sustainable fibers whenever possible. It’s important that our products — from fiber to final package — are in alignment with our values to support the environment and its communities.

Minimal Waste Packaging

We choose to print less — in our marketing and in our office. Print materials, like catalogs and packaging, we use recycled content, post-consumer waste materials, and soy-based inks.

Best Business Practices

We take great care in how we treat the valuable workers who help us bring our goods to you. To ensure that every worker who produces our products has a safe and healthy work environment, we partner with a limited number of factories around the world. We regularly visit these factories and closely monitor them to confirm our standards and best practices are being met. We are proud of the close relationships we have established with each partner and factory we use.
